Victim identified in hit-and-run accident in Smithfield, officials searching for suspect

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — Officials are asking for the public’s help in locating a tractor trailer that allegedly hit and killed a woman last night on Pleasant View Avenue in Smithfield.

The woman was traveling on her bike when she was killed, according to police.

Officials aid they responded to the scene around 9:37 p.m. to find that a female bicyclist had been struck as she was traveling southbound.

On scene, police learned that the bicyclist, identified as 25-year-old Aliana Ciacciarelli, had fallen and was hit by a tractor-trailer.

Police said they are looking for a light colored, day cab/tractor trailer combination that was seen in the area at the time of the collision.
