Victim recovering after Providence weekend machete attack

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Providence Police Department said that a 68-year-old man was assaulted with a machete Sunday.

The incident occurred on Anthony Avenue.

The victim suffered a non-life-threatening head injury and the suspect then fled the scene.

Police said that the victim was transported to an area hospital and the incident was under investigation.

The victim is expected to recover.
