Vincent “Buddy” Cianci’s official obituary posted

The official obituary for former Providence Mayor and ABC6 Political Analyst Vincent "Buddy" Cianci has been posted.

The Nardolillo Funeral Home posted the obituary on their website Wednesday, which touches upon his long career and numerous accomplishments as mayor in Providence.

In part, it reads, "It is impossible to capture Buddy in words. But everyone who knew him or even received a fleeting greeting is aware of his magic and has at least one personal Buddy story to tell."

Cianci was rushed to Miriam Hospital after feeling ill at a recording of his ABC6 News Political show, "On the Record," on January 27th. He passed away on the 28th.

Cianci will lie in state outside of the Mayor’s Office on the second floor of Providence City Hall from 12 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, February 6 and Sunday, February 7.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Cathedral of SS Peter and Paul at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 8. The Most Rev. Thomas J. Tobin, Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence, will be the main celebrant.
