Voice message threat to Bristol school left by juvenile in Virginia

BRISTOL, R.I. (WLNE) — Bristol police officers are keeping a presence at Guiteras Elementary School Monday afternoon after responding to a threatening voice message left over the weekend.

Bristol police said that the threat was found to have been sent by a juvenile with special needs in Virginia.

This juvenile has no personal association with the school, Bristol or Rhode Island, and no ability to follow through on any threats.

Bristol police have been assisted by law enforcement in Virginia in this case.

Students and staff were evacuated from the school while police searched the building Monday morning.

After the threat was found to not have been credible, the students were let back in.

Police say they’re keeping a presence at the school out of an abundance of caution.
