Wanted man who allegedly dragged New Bedford officer in stolen car remains at large

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — New Bedford police are asking for help locating a suspect who allegedly dragged an officer with a stolen car last week.
According to New Bedford Police, on October 6, at around 1:30 p.m., an officer noticed a car that had been reported stolen while traveling on Route 18 south.
After pulling the car over near the Conway Street intersection, the officer approached the driver who was later identified as 38-year-old Kendra Blackler. Seated next to her was her husband, 50-year-old Todd Blackler.
Kendra got out of the car to speak with the officer, when he noticed that Todd was moving into the drivers seat. A brief struggle ensued as the officer attempted to stop Todd from driving away but he was unsuccessful.
Officials said Todd put the car in drive and sped off, dragging the officer an estimated 90 feet before successfully fleeing the scene. Kendra also tried to flee on foot but was taken into custody a short distance away from where the traffic stop happened.
Authorities said the car was later discovered abandoned in a nearby neighborhood and the officer only sustained minor injuries while being dragged, which were treated shortly after the incident.
Kendra is charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and failing to stop for police. Todd was found to have active warrants for his arrest but remains at large.
Anyone with information regarding the incident or the location of Todd Blackler is asked to contact New Bedford police or submit a tip anonymously at 508-99-CRIME.
