A Wareham man was arrested early Wednesday afternoon after attempting to flee from police.

Officials say a concerned citizen called them regarding a suspicious vehicle driving in an East Wareham neighborhood.

Police say they located the vehicle at Cumberland Farms on Depot Street at which time 35-year-old Christopher Holmes, who had an outstanding court default warrant, escaped the scene on foot.

Holmes dodged officers by running through business and residential properties until he was detained by police at about three-fourths of a mile from where he was first encountered.

Along with the outstanding arrest warrant, Holmes was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest.

Holmes was transported to Wareham District Court for arraignment on the criminal charges Wednesday afternoon.
