Warming centers open ahead of weekend winter storm

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Warming centers and overnight shelters are opening across Southern New England in preparation for the weekend’s winter storm.

Crossroads Rhode Island’s warming center at 160 Broad St. is open 24 hours a day and has a capacity of 80 people.

The City of East Providence has a warming center open until Jan. 26 at the Robert E. Rock Senior Center at 610 Waterman Ave.

The center will operate from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. during the days it is open.

The City of Fall River will have multiple temporary shelters open.

The First Step inn at 134 Durfee St. will be open overnight from 4 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. on Jan 31.

Christ the Rock Church at 414 Rock St. will be open Jan. 24 to Jan. 26 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
