It was all smiles and hugs Friday as Senator Elizabeth Warren met with Fall River Mayor Sam Sutter for the first time since he took over the office six weeks ago.
A topic of conversation: getting federal aid to help the city in the cleanup of not only this winter’s storms, but also dating back to hurricane Sandy in 2012 and winter storm Nemo in 2013.
“We want to make sure that FEMA has made all of the payments to Fall River that Fall River is entitled to from earlier storms and to be helpful for this most recent storm,” Warren said.
“This money I think that we clearly qualify, so I think we will get it. I can’t say I am 100% sure but darn close,” Sutter said.

But as is the case everywhere she goes these day, the senator could not escape without answering a question about a potential presidential run in 2016.
“I am not running for President. I am not running for President,” Warren insisted.
Warren did however confirm that she met recently with another potential democratic candidate, Hillary Clinton.
“I met with Hillary Clinton in December (laughs). You are not surprised to hear what we talked about what’s happening to working families across this country.“
Both Clinton and Warren have strong backing in any potential run in 2016. Warren being urged to do so by liberal democrats. Clinton too has yet to announce her intentions.
