Warwick City Council votes down resolution to potentially revoke cost of new high schools

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — The Warwick City Council voted against a resolution that would give voters a chance to revoke the more than $300,000,000 dollar bond for two new high schools.

The resolution was introduced Monday night during the council meeting.

The bond had a cap of $350,000,000 but the project is now going over budget.

City reps were asked to clarify who would be paying the difference.

Many residents showed up to make their voices heard.

Several said they don’t oppose the construction of new schools, but that the people should have a chance to vote on it following the new cost.
