Warwick community shows support for teen during ‘Good Night Lights’ at Hasbro

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Good Night Lights has become a Providence tradition over the years, creating special moments as people join together to say goodnight to the kids at Hasbro Children’s Hospital.

Tuesday night, the Warwick community came together to show their support for 14-year-old Madi Brodeur.

“When I found out, I cried, it’s just such a shocking and surreal thing to hear about someone you love with your whole heart,” her life-long friend, Brooke Richer said.

Madi, a freshman at Pilgrim High School in Warwick, and her family are currently going through the unknown.

On Sunday, Madi was admitted to the oncology floor at Hasbro.

“I know she’s strong she’ll get through it, she has so many people supporting her, so many people that love her and she’s going to get through it,” Richer said.

Saturday night, Madi went to the ER after feeling unwell for months, and that’s when Mayor Frank Picozzi stepped in, asking the city to show up to Good Night Lights Tuesday.

“It’s the Warwick community, this is what we do, we do it constantly, we have the fire and police here. We’re going to say going to say goodnight to Madi, we’re going to tell her we love her, and we hope everything is going to be okay,” Picozzi said.

ABC6 News spoke to Madi’s mom off-camera, and she said doctors are working diligently to find a diagnosis for her daughter.
