Warwick Mall sees large crowds of Black Friday shoppers

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Shoppers made their way to the stores to check out the best deals this Black Friday.

Shoppers were out in full force at the Warwick Mall in hopes to get a good start to their holiday wish lists.

Many took to the mall this year to avoid the Black Friday hype at larger corporations.

“Just the sales. I knew it wasn’t going to be crazy like the Walmarts and Targets and I just love the festivities of it all, it has been great so far,” Tammy Thacker of East Providence told ABC 6 News.

The malls were prepared for large crowds.

“I started at JC penny and they had plenty of people at the register. Bath and Body Works had a little bit of a line, but they are moving people in and out pretty quickly so they have got it really well arranged,” added Thacker.

Other shoppers were not pleased with this year’s deals.

“I know the deals are kind of low, they are like 30%. Everything used to be 60 to 80% off, but I feel like everything is dropping to 40 and under,” said Anastasia You and Sarah Murphy told ABC 6.

The shopping does not end Friday — the holiday sales weekend continues with Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday.
