Warwick man admits to possession of illegal firearm

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Acting United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom said that a Warwick man who had previous convictions admitted to carrying an illegal firearm.

52-year-old Miguel Pavao was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm. 

Pavao was arrested on Feb. 6, 2022 when, during a traffic stop, an officer discovered a loaded .40 caliber, semi-automatic handgun on his person.

Bloom said that Pavao was prohibited from owning a firearm due to a multiple prior convictions of domestic violence, drug trafficking, and for assault with a dangerous weapon.

Pavao was scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 3.
