PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ A Warwick man has been found guilty of killing a woman he met through an advertisement for escort services.
Thirty-four-year-old James Adams was convicted Monday by a Providence County Superior Court jury of the murder of Mary Grier.
Adams was also convicted of assault and weapons charges stemming from incidents involving other victims.
Prosecutors say Adams met Grier on July 15, 2012, after seeing her advertisement for escort services on the website backpage.com.
Grier's body was found five days later in a Cranston garage Adams was renting.
Prosecutors say an autopsy revealed that Grier had died of homicidal violence. Police found a pair of men's underwear at the scene with Adams' DNA on them.
Prosecutors say Adams assaulted another woman he met through backpage.com a couple weeks before Grier's murder.
