Warwick man recovers stolen van with help of stranger

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) – A Warwick man recovered his van five days after it was stolen from a department store parking lot.

Robert Filipkowski Jr. stepped into the Kohl’s in Warwick last Monday morning, and when he came back out his van was missing; along with $17,000 worth of equipment.

He did a story with ABC 6 News and posted it on Facebook. A local woman saw the story and spotted the van on Cutler Street in Providence. She contacted Filipkowski, who got the van towed back to his home.

According to Filipkowski, the van was not drivable. But, he was glad to have his van back in his possession.

“I’m very happy to get my van back, because now I can get back to doing what I do,” Filipkowski said.

Warwick police told ABC 6 News that they have no more leads to investigate and the incident was not picked up by surveillance cameras in the Kohl’s parking lot.
