Providence (WLNE)- Ryan Beeley of Warwick was sentenced to serve 10 years in prison today for the involuntary death of his 7-month-old daughter, the state attorney general announced.
Beeley, 40, was left in charge of his infant daughter Willow while under the influence of a cocktail of narcotics.
The girl’s mother returned home to find him passed out on top of the girl, who succumbed to asphyxiation.
Warwick Fire and Rescue were called to the scene but resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.
“The defendant, through egregious carelessness, caused the death of a child who had her life life ahead of her,” said Attorney General Peter Neronha.
According to court documents, a toxicology report showed Beeley was under the influence of fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, clonazepam, and methadone.
Beeley will undergo mental health and substance abuse treatment, with regular drug screening during probation, in addition to serving prison time.
“The defendant has been held accountable for his conduct and deservedly so,” Neronha said. “But nothing will bring this child back, and that is a tragedy.”
