Warwick middle schools cancel after-school activities following online threat

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — An online threat prompted enhanced security at two Warwick middle schools today.
According to the Warwick Police Department, they became aware of an online threat made against Winman Middle School and Veterans Middle School at approximately 12:50 p.m.
Officials from the Warwick School Department and police placed both schools in a “restrictive movement” protocol, in which students stay in their classrooms in the building.
After school activities were cancelled at both schools and an organized dismissal was conducted with increased police presence after the school was searched.
Warwick police are still investigating, but officials believe the threat is not credible.
