UPDATE: Police determine no attempted abduction in Warwick

UPDATE: Police say after a thorough investigation, it has been determined that a suspicious incident reported on May 19th was not an attempted abduction.

Warwick Police were notified on Tuesday after a 12-year-old girl said she was approached by an unknown person on her way home from school.

It happened around 3:30 p.m. as she was walking home from the bus stop near Osceola Avenue. That’s when she said an unidentified male tugged on her backpack and said, “Come here.”

The victim then ran home to her parents and reported the incident.

Police conducted a thorough investigation following the report with the help of services officers, school resource officers, uniform patrol members, and detectives. 

Police say that at no time was the safety of area students and children threatened in this case.
