WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Warwick Police identified the victim in hit-and-run that left a pedestrian seriously injured Wednesday night.

According to the Warwick Police Department, Eduardo Amaral, 31, of Warwick, was struck on 840 Post Road just before 9:00 p.m., and rushed to Rhode Island Hospital, where he remained in stable condition as of Saturday morning.

The driver fled the area immediately after the crash, police noted, saying the car was heading southbound.

“We have evidence left from the vehicle from the impact, as well as some clothing and items that the victim has left at the scene as a result of the accident,” said Major Rick Rathbun from the Warwick Police Department.

Warwick Police said a crash reconstruction team was assessing the scene, and are looking for a grey-colored 2014-2018 Acura RLX with a missing side mirror and front end damage.

Police say the operator of the vehicle knows it was involved in the crash, and is likely to be intentionally eluding authorities.

“We are asking for the public’s help, anyone who witnessed it to please call the police department,” said Major Rathbun.

If you have any information about the accident, you are urged to contact the Warwick Police Department at: 401-468-4200.
