WARWICK, R.I. — The Warwick Police Department needs the public’s help in identifying a man involved in a “grandparent scam.”

According to officials, the man was seen in surveillance pictures picking up a MoneyGram that was wired to him from an out of state target.

Police say the scammer convinced his victim over the phone that the victim’s grandson was in trouble and needed cash.

After the victim had wired the money, he later realized that the grandson was never in trouble and that he was scammed.

If you have any information, contact the Warwick Police at (401) 468-4200.
