Warwick to rename road in honor of former superintendent

Toll Gate High School

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — The City of Warwick will hold a ceremony on Monday morning to honor former superintendent Robert Shapiro.

Mayor Frank Picozzi will be joined by other city leaders, as well as Shapiro’s son, at 10 a.m. outside of Toll Gate High School.

The group will rename the road leading to the school, “Robert Shapiro Drive.”

Shapiro worked for the school system for 50 years and was the first principal of Toll Gate. He died back in 2012.
