The parking lot of Wasabi restaurant in Dartmouth empty, and inside window blinds shut.
Guests are greeted by this sign on the door, stating the restaurant is under construction until further notice. This all coming after the restaurant was found violating multiple health codes during an inspection last month.

"Cleanliness is a major factor because it’s what people notice the most out of everything, other than the service and the food they want to come in to a clean place," says one local woman.

The restaurant shutting down, didn’t come as a shock to past customers we spoke with.

"It was dirty, you could tell. I remember the food wasn’t as good as I thought it would be, it was kind of a let down. But, it kind of makes sense as to why it closed down," says a former customer.

This is not the first time Wasabi is dealing with this type of issue. The Dartmouth health and sanitary inspector holds a list, with a number of violations against it dating back to 2013. According to Southcoast today, the restaurant has racked up more than $3,000 dollars in fines over the years. During the last inspection, they discovered things like old spills, rusty and moldy shelves inside a refrigerator where uncovered food was stored, and a bowl of shredded chicken left on the floor located under a sink and rusty pipe.
The board voted Wednesday to close it, until the problems are fixed.
