Washington Bridge demolition resumes tomorrow

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Transportation said demolition on the Washington Bridge will resume tomorrow.

Governor Dan McKee and RIDOT will give an update on the bridge’s demo following a disappointing meeting on Friday.

A section of Waterfront Drive in East Providence at the I-195 overpass will close for about one week.

There will be a detour available on Valley Street.

Starting Tuesday at 9 p.m., Gano Street will be closed nightly Sunday through Thursday nights at the I-195 overpass.

A full weekend closure of Gano Street may come in late October.

The on-ramp to I-195 west will stay open.

A detour will be available using India Street, Wickenden Street, South Main Street and South Water Street.
