Washington Bridge old Gano Street off-ramp demolition delayed due to weekend snowstorm
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) announced that its demolition work on the Gano Street off-ramp scheduled for Monday will be delayed due to the weekend snowstorm.
According to RIDOT, the work will now begin on Tuesday, February 11, or Wednesday February 12.
A second controlled demolition for that same span is expected to take place later on Wednesday, February 12 or Thursday, February 13.
Barges will be placed underneath the span to capture falling debris and the next controlled demolition is expected to take place in one week.
RIDOT also stated:
RIDOT remains on schedule to finish the demolition of the superstructure and then complete the demolition of the bridge’s substructure by the end of the year.
