Water main break causes street closures in Johnston
JOHNSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — A water main break led to some street closures in Johnston Friday morning.
The water main break happened at about 7 a.m. in the area of Central and Atwood avenues.
Dennis Parrillo, who lives nearby, said he was driving shortly after the break.
“There was like a flood of water on both sides of the street,” he explained.
That area is closed off to westbound traffic. Cars that need access to Central Avenue can take Hartford to Reservoir.
Police said detours can be expected to last all day.
Providence Water told ABC 6 News that one resident is currently without water.
“I was going down Central Ave I [saw] a river of water… it was like a flood of water on both sides of the street,” said Dennis Parrillo, a man who lives near the source of the water main break.
