PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Today WaterFire Providence announced that Peter Mello, their managing director and co-CEO will be departing at the end of August.

This announcement comes a week after an announcement that Water Fire was cutting back on programming due to a lack of funding.

Mello joined WaterFire Providence in 2011 to co-lead the organization with founder and executive artistic director, and co-CEO Barnaby Evans.

“The past 13 years have been the most professionally rewarding of my entire career,” said Mello. “I also feel so fortunate to have been part of an organization that is committed to creating art that has such profound impacts on Providence and Rhode Island.”

Mello will become the director of the Art Complex Museum in Duxbury starting in September.
