WaterFire Providence salutes veterans with special lighting

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — WaterFire Providence hosted its 11th annual Salute to Veterans full lighting Saturday night.
The lighting was scheduled to begin at 5:36 p.m. and will remain lit until 10 p.m.
A single brazier will be lit for volunteer photographer and Navy veteran John Nickerson, who passed away earlier in the year.
Organizers said that display of his WaterFire photography will be shown on a screen in Memorial Park.
A speaking program featuring Gov. Dan McKee and Sen. Jack Reed, as well as a performances by the Army 88th and Navy Band and the Rhode Island Professional Fire Fighters Pipes and Drums occurred before the lighting.
