Waterfire Providence to host first lighting of the season

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Waterfire Providence will officially kick off its first waterfire of the season today.

In honor of the second annual Waterfire Day, CEOs of Waterfire Providence Peter Mello and Barnaby Evans will speak immediately following the lighting. Other representatives of Waterfire Providence will also be in attendance.

The twelve braziers alongside Memorial Park will be lit from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

In honor of the occasion, WaterFire Providence will be hosting a fundraiser encouraging Rhode Islanders to explore Providence’s restaurants, bars, and shops.

Visitors have the opportunity to generate extra support for WaterFire by visiting any of the participating WaterFire Day businesses, which will all be donating 10 percent of their sales on Thursday to WaterFire Providence.
