‘We are devastated’: Sojourner House issues statement in Woonsocket murder-suicide
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Sojourner House has released a statement regarding the fatal triple shooting in Woonsocket on Monday night that police have confirmed was a murder-suicide.
According to Woonsocket police, the incident escalated into a deadly shooting during a domestic incident involving the alleged shooter and his girlfriend.
Sojourner House, which offers resources and help to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking, issued a statement from its President and CEO Vanessa Volz.
The statement reads, in part:
We are devastated by the senseless act of domestic violence that occurred in Woonsocket last night, claiming the lives of Kimberly Pieranunzi and Donald Roderick Jr…
…This tragedy comes just two months after our community grieved the loss of Kylee Monteiro, the 18-year old Burrillville native who was murdered by her boyfriend in (Rehoboth); and a year after we lost Neveah “River” Goddard, the 17-year old Burrillville native who was murdered by her boyfriend in Stow.
Their stories – although painful – are ones we cannot allow ourselves to forget.
