Nicer weather Friday after incredible Thursday rains in Rhode Island
Bullseye! A rain bullseye, that is – right over parts of our area. A month’s worth of rain in less than 12 hours.
New London to New Bedford saw a general 3-4″, but southern Rhode Island saw anywhere from 5-6″ of rain between last night and this morning.
Even with a fairly dry last month plus across the area, this threw our main local rivers back into minor flood stage.
Smaller rivers within the in the bullseye, such as the Saugatucket, overspilled banks and flooded out side roads.
Fortunately, things have dried out nicely this evening with even some sun breaking out. Friday will be a nice day, with sun mixing with clouds later in the day. Highs inland will near 70°.
Clouds come back in on Saturday, with some sprinkles around too. It will be cool (low 60s) as a result. Sunday will be better with some sun and milder temperatures (upper 60s)
As it has tended to do lately, the nicest days will come for the start of the workweek. Monday through Wednesday will all be mostly sunny with highs in the 70s!
