WESTPORT, Mass. (WLNE) — Westport police said Friday they have charged the Fall River City Council President with criminal harassment after she allegedly made “annoying” phone calls.

Police said that Pamela Laliberte-Labeau was also charged with two counts of intimidation of a witness.

The charges are the result of an investigation that kicked off back in April. Detectives got a search warrant for an application that is used to disguise phone numbers and a caller’s identity.

A second warrant was executed on Laliberte’s phone. Investigators conducted a forensic download, which confirmed that she had allegedly sent annoying calls and messages.

Police didn’t say what exactly the calls were in regards to, but did say that Laliberte contacted one of the victims of the annoying calls when she got wind of the investigation. At that time she tried to have the investigation stopped.

Laliberte-Labeau has been on the city council since 2015 and took over as council president earlier this year.
A request for comment from the council president has not been returned.
