WEST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (WLNE) — A West Bridgewater man was arrested Wednesday, December 20 for allegedly receiving child pornography from an online communication application.

Juan Levano, 23, was charged with one count of receipt of child pornography.

Levano was allegedly identified as a likely user of an internet-based communications application used for trafficking child pornography.

Various electronic devices were seized during the execution of a search warrant in Levano’s rented room, including Levano’s phone.

According to the charging documents, the room’s residence is registered as a residential daycare. The daycare owner denied Levano had any contact with the children in attendance.

A review of the phone allegedly revealed Levano’s membership in several online groups that exchanged child pornography, as well as 100 child pornography video and image files.

Levano allegedly admitted to being a member of several groups on the chat application and obtaining child pornography from those groups, and to possessing imagery of children ranging from infancy to 13 years old.

Levano remains in federal custody after an initial appearance in Boston federal court.
