West Warwick ‘career criminal’ sentenced to 10 years for Fall River bank robbery
FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn III said that a West Warwick man described as a “career criminal” will serve 10 years in prison for a bank robbery.
John Barboza pled guilty to a charge of armed and masked robbery.
The 58-year-old was accused of entering the Rockland Trust Bank on Dec. 3, 2022 while wearing a surgical mask and demanding money from a teller while threatening to kill them.
Quinn said that after receiving the money Barboza then fled towards the woods on a bike, where police later found him as well as $500 in cash.
Quinn added that Barboza has a “lengthy history of serious convictions” including armed robberies and assaultive behavior that resulted in multiple prison sentences.
Barboza will serve his decade sentence in state prison.
