West Warwick man faces domestic assault and firearms charges

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A West Warwick man has been charged with domestic assault and firearms-related charges.
David Lachance, 36, is charged with one count of domestic assault with a dangerous weapon, one count of using a firearm when committing a crime of violence and a host of other charges.
West Warwick police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at Carlton Place on September 18, 2023.
The victim in the case told officers that she and Lachance got into an argument, and that he had held a handgun to her head, pushed and bit her and threw her phone into the woods when she attempted to call police.
Lachance fled on foot and the victim contacted the police using a neighbor’s phone.
Officers observed facial and neck injuries to the victim consistent with her report.
Officers found the defendant at his mother’s home in Coventry, and he gave them permission to search his apartment where they found a gray Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun and two 16-round large capacity magazines.
Lachance is scheduled to be arraigned on March 22 at Kent County Superior Court.
