West Warwick Fire Department knocks down overnight fire

WEST WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) – Firefighters reported to the scene of a smoky fire at a West Warwick business early Sunday morning.

Fire officials said crews from West Warwick Fire Department reported to a commercial building at 1600 Division Road shortly after 2:00 a.m. Sunday after receiving notification from the buildings alarm system.

The Fire Department arrived on scene and located a fire in a rear loading dock area of the building. According to officials the fire was under control within 30 minutes, but ventilation of smoke and maintenance to the building’s sprinkler system took several hours.

No injuries were reported.

West Warwick Fire Department said they received mutual aid from several surrounding towns.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
