WEST WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — The West Warwick Police Department said the social media rumors of a threat of violence to the high school are not credible.

According to West Warwick police, multiple social media posts were uploaded in March “concerning rumors of a threat of violence at/to the West Warwick High School” to happen on April 8.

On Monday, the department said it conducted a complete investigation and “remain confident that there is no viable or credible threat to any of our West Warwick schools, students, or staff.”

To help ease the minds of students and staff, there will be an increased police presence in and around the schools for the rest of the week.

The department asks anyone who sees anything suspicious to report it to West Warwick police. The department can be reached at 401-821-4323.
