Westerly police collect more than 2,500lbs of food for local pantry

WESTERLY, R.I. (WLNE) — The Westerly Police Department said it collected more than 2,500lbs of food to donate to a local pantry over the weekend.
The department held a food drive at the Stop & Shop supermarket on Franklin Street on Sunday, and collected 2,680lbs of food that they donated to the Pantry On The Lane in Bradford, Rhode Island.
Westerly officers were also surprised by members of Back the Blue Southeastern Connecticut who stopped by the food drive dressed as the Grinch.

The department said it will be back at the Stop & Shop collecting food again on Sunday, Nov. 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
