Westport Animal Control says raccoon tested positive for rabies, reminder to check pet vaccinations

WESTPORT, Mass. (WLNE) — Westport Animal Control said it is reminding residents to make sure their pets’ vaccinations are up to date after a raccoon tested “tentatively positive” for rabies.

According to Westport Animal Control, the animal was found on Dionne Street off of Sanford Road.

The raccoon was sent to a state lab for confirmation.

Additionally, Animal Control is reminding residents to ensure that dogs are licensed in Westport, adding that the due date is April 1.
