Westport crash leaves driver with serious injuries

WESTPORT, Mass. (WLNE) — A driver suffered serious injuries after a crash ended with a car on its side in Westport, Massachusetts on Thursday morning.

Westport police said a car crashed into a pole at about 7:30 a.m. on State Road.

Police said the driver was speeding and lost control at a curve.

The car was heavily damaged and lying on its side when rescue crews arrived.

The driver was removed from the car with the Jaws of Life.

That person was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital, where they are in critical condition.

The driver was the only occupant of the car.

No information on the driver’s identity was immediately released.
