Westport police arrest man on multiple child sex crime charges

WESTPORT, Mass. (WLNE) — The Westport Police Department said a man faces multiple child sex crime charges after police obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Steven Correia, of Westport, was charged with two counts of rape of a child with force, one count of aggravated rape of a child under 12, one count of aggravated rape of a child over 12, two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, and one count of indecent assault and battery on a person 14 or over.

Westport police said the department was able to obtain a felony arrest warrant for the defendant in connection to an investigation.

Police arrested Correia on March 28.

Correia was held on $100,000 bail prior to his arraignment.

Westport police said following the arraignment, the defendant was held without bail while awaiting a dangerousness hearing scheduled April 1.
