WESTPORT, Mass. (WLNE)– Westport Elementary and Westport Middle-High School are both closed on Wednesday after what Superintendent Fran Roy described in letters to students’ family members as an “unforeseen power surge.”

The closure, Roy said, will not affect the start of kindergarten at Macomber School, though it may delay the school bus schedule by around 15 minutes.

The middle school open house planned for tonight is still expected to occur at 6 p.m., and schools are expected to reopen tomorrow morning.

According to Roy, Westport families can expect an update on the situation by 5 p.m.
