Wet week ahead with heavy rain late Wednesday; rivers rising back up
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Clouds have rolled into the area this evening, and it is a sign of things to come the next several days – you’re going to want to have the umbrella handy almost every day.
Tonight will feature overcast skies with patchy fog or drizzle, and our first waves of rain will arrive tomorrow morning. The threat of wet weather continues into the nighttime before tapering off.
Wednesday starts dry and cloudy, with rain returning in the afternoon. The rain may turn quite heavy by the evening and through the overnight, with 2-4″ possible.
This will throw our rivers back into minor flood stage, and will need to be monitored closely. If you live along the banks of the Pawtuxet, Pawcatuck or Wood, pay close attention to the forecast.
Rain should taper off by midday Thursday, but it will remain cloudy and breezy as it turns a bit chillier into the weekend as well.
We finally see the return of the sun on Friday, but it won’t last long. Clouds return for Saturday and rain will as well at some point – going with a midday-afternoon arrival for now.
Rain continues Sunday before drying out into Monday.
