PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management announced Tuesday that their deer hunting permits will soon be on sale.

Officials said local hunters can get their permit for legally hunting and harvesting both antlered and antlerless deer on August 1.

Each deer permit costs $13 online or $13.50 at a sales agent for residents. For non-residents, the cost is $26.50 online or $27.50 at a sales agent.

The DEM is also offering their “all outdoors” package which includes permits for five antlerless and two antlered deer. For residents, the package is $78 online and $81 at a sales agent.

A hunter education course is also required for new hunters and is offered as part of Department of Fishing and Wildlife’s Hunter Education Program.

A complete schedule is available of all upcoming hunter education programs.
