Where Will Communities Put All of this Snow?

The plowing brigade was on the march again, as the third major winter storm hit southern New England, in just over two weeks time.

Our ABC6 dash cam showing just how treacherous conditions were, as the snow fell faster than plows could keep up, in many areas.

“Stay inside, hunker down and just enjoy the snow day, if you can…”

“You’re going to get stuck if you have to stop. And if you have to stop anywhere on the road, on a hill or anywhere, you’re getting stuck,” said Kenny Warren of Cranston who was out driving to work.

Certainly one of the biggest concerns is keeping roads cleared for emergency vehicles.

ABC 6 Chief Political Reporter Mark Curtis said, “Of course one of the big questions for many communities is where are they going to put this snow, if we keep having storms like this, all winter long.”

So as they clear the snow, some are getting creative at where to put it.

Call this “Mount Cranston” if you’d like.

That’s right the City of Cranston is now dumping as much excess show as possible in the parking lot of Cranston Stadium.

“All the snow from many of our municipal lots. We taking and putting them here, just to clear room for parking in some of our city facilities. We’re doing the best we can,” said Mayor Allan Fung, (R) Cranston.

And with more snow in the forecast, these makeshift mountains are likely to grow larger.
