Wife flown to hospital after being stabbed by husband, Westerly police say
WESTERLY, R.I. (WLNE) — A husband is at the ACI after he allegedly stabbed his wife Friday night, Westerly police said Saturday.
According to police, 33-year-old Antoine Knight is charged with domestic felony assault with a dangerous weapon and domestic disorderly conduct after he allegedly stabbed his wife.
Officials said police were called to High Street for a reported stabbing at 8:19 p.m. When they arrived, they found Knight outside a home and the victim inside the home.
Police said the victim was bleeding heavily from large stab wounds on her left forearm and back. Police provided first aid to the victim until she was flown to the hospital by helicopter.
The victim told police that her husband, Knight, was the suspect, who she has children in common with. Police said two children were present at the time of the incident and were not injured.
Officials said it is unknown at this time what caused the disturbance but Westerly police are still investigating.
Knight is being held on bond at the ACI pending his arraignment.
