Wildfire smoke clears; big temperature swings later this week

Monday featured a smoke plume from a wildfire burning up in Nova Scotia. A brisk east wind kicked in yesterday behind a backdoor cold front and blew the smoke across the Atlantic and into the Northeast.

That plume has since pushed off to the west, with air quality expected to improve into tonight. It will be on the chilly side with lows in the 40s. Patchy fog will develop after midnight.

After a beautiful day on Wednesday, things will heat up for the end of the work week with highs in the mid to upper 80s. A few spots will likely hit 90!

A cold front coming down from the north will significantly cool things off for the weekend. A thunderstorm is possible late on Friday, with showers lasting into Saturday morning.

Have a great evening!
