Wiley Center To Hold “Action” At RI Office Of Energy Resources

ABC 6's “Operation Warm Home” is prompting officials at the George Wiley Center to hold an “action” at Rhode Island's Office Of Energy Resouces on Monday.

The George Wiley Center helps people who need heating assistance.

A series of reports during ABC 6's “Operation Warm Home” shed light on the number of Rhode Islanders who haven't been able to get heating assistance this winter and the number of people wanting to donate heating oil to them.

“We have received numerous calls from families in need of assistance for oil as a result of the episode that appeared on ABC 6 News listing us as a resource,” the Wiley Center's Debbie Clark said in a statement released Wednesday.

A spokesperson for the Wiley Center told ABC 6 that their “action” will involve showing up at the office with people who need heating assistance and have hit roadblocks because of red tape.

“We are not getting movement,” the spokesperson said, “and you've shed light on it.”

“Operation Warm Home” is an ongoing effort by ABC 6 to get heating oil to families that who are living in cold apartments and houses this winter.
