Winnapaug Pond reopened to shellfish harvesting

Quahogging New Waters: Section Of Providence River To Open For Shellfishing

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – The Department of Environmental Management announced Thursday that Winnapaug Pond, closed due to Tropical Storm Henri, has reopened to shellfish harvesting.

The pond was closed on August 23 due to heavy rainfall and coastal flooding that potentially had contaminants.

Water samples were analyzed by the Department of Health, which determined the bacteria levels in the pond were low and supported safe shellfish harvesting.
