Snow, mix, and rain heading to our region

We continue enjoying the sun this Martin Luther King Day.  Temperatures, on the other hand, are around 30 with wind chills in the 20s.  Clouds will increase as the afternoon progresses.  Snow showers develop after midnight as the low track nearby promising to usher enough moisture.  Temperatures playing the pivotal role as to who gets snow, mix, or rain.  Providence is fairly along the rain/snow line, which will limit how much snow we get.  As of now, we’re looking at approximately 1-2″ inches of snow across much of our state with the exception of areas to the northwest could see slightly higher accumulations.   Southeast MA could see an all rain event.  Morning and evening commute may be impacted.  Precipitation tapers off overnight with temperatures falling into the upper-teens sunny and cold conditions on Wednesday with wind chill around 10° in the morning and teens during the day.  Cold Arctic air will continue to embrace us through the weekend.  On Friday we could receive more snow with the potential of a more significant snow storm, details are still uncertain.  Stay tuned.  The weekend looks dry and colder with highs in the mid to upper-20s with subzero wind chill values Saturday evening.
