Winter Winds Howling On Monday
Hold on to your hats today! Our storm is gone but the wind behind it will be brutal, with gusts getting up to 55 mph locally. For that reason, we have a Wind Advisory in place until 7 PM this evening. To our north, a large portion of Massachusetts could see gusts up to 65 mph. That area is under a High Wind Warning for the same time frame.
Aside from making things uncomfortable, the wind will also make it feel awfully cold today. High temperatures will only reach the upper 20s and low 30s, but with gusty winds it will feel like we’re in the teens for most of the afternoon. While we’ll have a mix of sun and clouds today, we could see a few flurries and even a snow shower or two as a result of some far-reaching lake effect moisture.
Overnight, temperatures actually drop into the teens, but will feel like single digits and even below zero at time with the wind still howling.
Tomorrow will bring more sunshine, but the wind will still strong, with gusts in the 20s and 30s. With cold air gripping the region, high temperatures will only reach the low and mid 20s. On the (literal) bright side, we’ll see more sunshine!
Wednesday is less windy but still cold, with highs in the upper 20s.
Thursday brings our next potential storm, although, at this point, there’s still a lot left to determine. Right now, it looks like the storm will brush by to the south, leaving us with a few snow showers along parts of South County, the South Coast, the Cape and the Islands. That said, should the track of this storm move even a few miles north, we could have more widespread accumulating snow. We’ll keep you posted throughout the week!
