Witnesses take the stand in Charlotte Lester murder case
WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Mark Perkins was back in court Monday for a bail hearing in the Charlotte Lester murder case.
Witnesses took the stand at the Kent County courthouse, including Lynn Dubois, who explained her relationship with Perkins and Lester.
“He loved her, but he loved her in a jealous way,” Dubois said.
Perkins was charged with the murder of Lester, who was missing for two years.
In November, Lester’s remains were discovered by a hunter in a wooded area near the Exeter-West Greenwich town line.
Dubois worked at a Cumberland Farms in the Appanoug section of Warwick at the time of Lester’s disappearance.
She spent Monday morning painting a picture to the judge, of the moments she says Perkins came into her Cumberland Farms on the morning of May 17, 2022, which was just one day after Lester was last seen.
“I asked him ‘is she okay, is she breathing?’ And he said, ‘well I don’t know, I think I killed her. I may have killed her,'” Dubois said.
Dubois claims Perkins was disheveled and had blood on his hands and his shirt.
“You can tell, he was still very angry,” Dubois said.
Perkins’ bail hearing will continue through the rest of the week and he will remain behind bars.
